Drawing Practice
As well as keeping up with Life Drawing, I've also tried to do a lot of sketching and portraits in my own time, to build on my drawing skills and become more confident in my line making.
Here are just a select few of the pieces in my sketchbook. I feel I have come a long way with my drawing ability, and I'm going to continue to draw for fun to build on my skills even further. I love working with intricate lines, and I would love to create an animation that exploits this.

Life Drawing
This year I have been taking Reg's advice, to try and keep on top of my life drawing. For a while I was able to fit in quite a lot of quick gesture drawings, to practice my line making and generally improve my drawing skills with the human form to better my own practice. I even attended a couple of sessions at the Fenton, and produced some work I am very proud of.
Though in the end I did drop off with Life Drawing, when the pressures of Dissertation and EP became too much, though I do plan on returning to practice once my time has freed up a little.

Showreel 2017
My Showreel
For my showreel I have chosen to showcase clips from Kites, From a Child's Eye, Lifting Tower Projections, Marathon De Animation and A2 Milk. All of which are 2D which is how I want to market myself, so I left out the 3D work I did for Telling Tales, despite being proud of that work. I also left out other work that I have done in the past despite it being 2D (for instance my Changes in Gaming Infographic and previous loop de loop submissions), as I didn't think it was as strong as the work I have recently produced.
I don't have to worry about copyright with this showreel, as I asked Cameron, a music student from LCoM, whether he'd be interested in making a track for me. I was delighted with the results, and I think it has greatly improved my reel. It conveys a tone-of-voice which I think is very suited to my work and my personality; friendly and lighthearted.
Overall I'm really pleased with my showreel. I think it showcases my best work very well and gets across my character animation focus. It also shows my engagement with live briefs and external experiences outside of university, which can be used as a conversation starter for potential interviews.

Business Stationary Pack
I made a letterhead with a similar theme to my invoice. I made sure that my logo didn't take up too much room on the page, and that my contact details were clear and eligible. Again, I think the document looks very professional, and I can see this being very useful for the future as I will have to contact a lot of companies in search for experience and/or work.
I also made sure to make a black and white version to make sure it was still tangible in monochrome.

Business Stationary
Here I have put together a mock-up of all my business stationary, complete with letterhead, business cards, pin badges, showreel work and invoices. I'm really pleased with the consistency in my brand and how much more professional I feel as a result.

New Business Cards!
As I have updated my logo and general branding, it only made sense for me to update my business cards too. I was generally happy with the layout of my old cards, but tweaked the design slightly so it was more suited for my current branding.
New Business Card - Front and Back
The logo and font is consistent, although this time I made sure to have the text larger and bolder. Though the card I made previously looked good online, it was much harder to read the physical copy. I also decided to leave out my social media handle, but featured my website address instead, where links to my social media can be found if needed.
I haven't yet printed any of this design as I still have cards left, and it would be a waste to not use them as they were quite expensive. When I run out of old cards, I will be able to print new ones with my new design.
Second Branding Review
As I was wanting to make myself a website, I thought I'd have another quick review to see if I was truly happy with my branding before I got started with its production. Though I was happy with the overall look, I wasn't too sure that the font I was using was copyright free. I thought the best option for me was to simply change the font that I used, and by knowing exactly what font I was using I would be able to be consistent across all platforms.
Font Testing
I looked on Dafont at typefaces that were 100% free to use, and out of all the ones I looked at, these were the only contenders. In the end I opted for the second, as I thought it was just that bit easier to read, and I liked the subtle handwritten touch.
I thought my pages were looking quite bare with just my logo and name, so I decided to add the characters from my final film to the channel art. It is my most recent work, and because I am hoping to do a lot of promotion for the film, this is how people are going to know my name. Also, by having this on my pages it promotes film just that little bit extra.
I'm very happy with how my social media is now looking; very clean and consistent. Not much of a change in terms of visuals, but definitely an improvement.

Creating a CV
It's been a while since I updated my CV, and now that the end of University is quickly approaching, it's time for me to do just that.
CV First Draft and Notes (Didn't originally have the bees on it)
I was pretty much sorted with my CV the first time around, but didn't realise I could list my grad/student films as experience, so I made sure to include these in my new CV, especially as a lot of hard work went into these productions and displays further skills.
Final CV
I think I'm now ready to contact people. Just need to do a bit of research into studios in the area and I'm good to go!

Brand Me: Revamp!
I decided that I wanted to set up my own website, but I thought it would be best to re-design my logo before I did. Looking back at it now, it's a little outdated. Though I am happy with the design and the colour scheme across my social media, I feel my drawing skills have improved greatly since then so I have decided to simply redraw my portrait.
I think my new logo is miles better than my old one. I prefer the more intricate linework in the hair (which reflects what I like to do as an artist) and is overall much more crisp and clean. It also looks more like me, which is a bonus, and a clear indicator that I have improved with my digital drawing.
I have since updated my social media pages where appropriate, and incorporated the logo into some of my backgrounds.

Branding Review
A year has passed since I set up my branding and my online media presence, so I thought it would be appropriate to review whether it's still relevant. I think it is. I'm still happy with my name/tag handle as it's unique and easy to say and remember, and my logo still accurately represents how I want to come across; smiley and creative. Though I do think it would be a good idea to start making more illustrations that involve myself again, similar to the one featured below, to just update people on what I'm into and what I'm doing. It's also where a lot of my Instagram following came from, and it is work I'm interested in making, as it combines my personality and figure/gesture drawing, something I'm definitely interested in pursuing and getting better at.
I may want to revisit this again in a couple of months time, and maybe just vamp up the logo and channel art as my drawing skills develop or change. As it stands I'm happy with how I come across and my consistency across all my online platforms, even on my business cards (that I intend to dish out at Manchester Animation Festival). Though, I am going to put in the effort to set up a website, and try to post more on Twitter to maintain my online presence and get across that I'm interested in the world of animation. Other than that I think I'm quite on top of social media. I've began to update my Instagram almost daily, and now that I'm back at uni and making more animations, I'm posting to YouTube again.
